By successfully completing a new collective acquisition project at 545 Legendre Street West, Ateliers Belleville and its partners are securing, in perpetuity, access to more than 50,000 square feet of adapted and affordable space — an essential principle for the development of independent artistic practices. In doing so, Ateliers Belleville addresses one of the key needs of professional and emerging artists and artisans. LAB thus contributes to the development of tools and processes that facilitate and encourage access to collectively owned artist studio spaces, while fostering collaborations and partnerships among actors from various sectors.
