Ateliers Belleville is developing an artistic residency program, in research and creation, at the heart of LAB-545 (Montreal/Canada). The program is built around four private studio-residencies offered for stays of varying duration to local, national, and international artists, artisans, researchers, and curators. It is embedded within a rich and diverse artistic ecosystem, formed by the members of Ateliers Belleville, a community bringing together artists and artisans with diverse practices: visual arts, craft, sculpture, photography, performance, digital arts, and interdisciplinary practices…
Fostering collaboration and research, the residencies encourage projects that show an interest in hybridization and the exploration of new approaches and new media.
The residencies are aimed at independent professional visual artists and seek to support the development of their careers as well as their professional networks: visits from curators and partner cultural organizations punctuate the artists' stay, fostering professional dialogue, outreach, and visibility for their practices.
Depending on the format chosen and the nature of the projects, artists in residence may have access to the following spaces and services:
Wood, metal, ceramics, digital fabrication
Supporting sound work, spatial experimentation, video recording, and public presentations
