ECHOS XIV: Music for a Large Space

The fourteenth concert in the series dedicated to exploratory / improvised / concrete / listening music and/or audio art.

The program for this edition of ECHOS is presented by François Zaidan.

This edition of ECHOS XIV features:

Hraïr Hratchian

Filmmaker, musician, and duduk player, Hraïr Hratchian develops a practice at the intersection of performance art, experimental cinema, and music, focusing on the relationships between body, technical apparatus, and temporality. He has performed internationally for more than a decade, both as a soloist and collaborator.

Katelyn Clark

Katelyn Clark works with historical keyboard instruments in the fields of classical and experimental music. Centered around the harpsichord and organetto, her practice lies at the intersection of historical reconstruction and sonic imagination. Drawing from early music, she composes using fragments of song, fifteenth-century keyboard works, and manipulated field recordings. Originally from Victoria, British Columbia, her recordings have been released on the Another Timbre and Hallow Ground labels.

Sarah Pagé

Tracing the musical trajectory of harpist, composer, and producer Sarah Pagé is quite the task—one would have to draw long, constellation-like shapes across genres, borders, and histories. She is perhaps best known as a founding and longtime member of folk-influenced rock band The Barr Brothers, but a brief consideration of her career reveals that she is equally at home within traditions as outside them. Her first two solo albums, Dose Curves and Voda, attest to this versatility and reveal Sarah Pagé as one of Canada’s most accomplished experimental artists. She has also been heard alongside such renowned artists as Lhasa DeSela, Esmerine, Nadah El Shazly, Juana Molina, and Joni Void, as well as a member of Sam Shalabi’s Land of Kush.
