An interdisciplinary artist, curator, and writer, Amélie Laurence Fortin lives and works between Canada and Poland. Through her installations, sculptures, and sound works, she crafts futuristic narratives in which objects bear witness to past or future actions. Her recent projects explore contemporary technological upheavals through a radical, monumental, and performative formal approach—one where opaque, feminist, fictional narratives and an ambiguity between the technical and the magical give rise to the element of chance.
Residency Project
Building on her recent research into the language of living systems, democracy and artificial intelligence, Amélie Laurence Fortin has explored various sculptural forms that contributed to the lexicons developed in her previous projects: Apis Mellifera Concerto (on view at Sporobole until November 27, 2026), as well as her research on language and volcanoes conducted during the Radio28Cs residency (Mexico City, 2025).
Her residency at Ateliers Belleville has offered an opportunity to explore new sculptural forms, working almost exclusively in the metal workshops, with the aim of allowing ideas to emerge through the act of making.
