Putting Your Expertise to Work for a Montréal Creative Hub

Application deadline: October 16, 2026

Ateliers Belleville is seeking an experienced professional in finance, accounting, auditing, treasury, or real estate financing to join its Board of Directors and contribute to its new Audit and Finance Committee.

This is a volunteer role at an important moment in the organization’s development. Over the coming months, Ateliers Belleville will continue developing its services, implementing a new pricing structure, launching a major fundraising campaign, and preparing for the long-term refinancing of the LAB-545 building.

We are looking for someone who wants to put their expertise to work for a Montréal cultural project and contribute meaningfully to the decisions shaping this next stage of the organization’s development.

The Role

The person joining the Board of Directors will contribute to the work of the Audit and Finance Committee and may be called upon to:

  • review the organization’s financial statements and projections;

  • monitor key financial indicators and contribute to scenario analysis;

  • support the management team in discussions with funders and financial partners;

  • contribute to discussions around financing and the organization’s long-term development;

  • participate in the work and decision-making of the Board of Directors.

Board committees make recommendations; decision-making authority remains with the Board of Directors.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone with professional experience in accounting, corporate finance, auditing, treasury, or real estate financing, with a CPA designation or equivalent experience.

The ideal candidate:

  • is comfortable working with financial statements, projections, and scenario analysis;

  • can make financial information accessible to people whose expertise lies in other fields;

  • demonstrates sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential matters;

  • is interested in putting their experience to work for a cultural organization and its community;

  • is available to contribute in a meaningful and sustained way over the coming months.

Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, public funding, or the cultural sector is an asset, but not a requirement.

A Meaningful Commitment

This is a volunteer, two-year mandate, renewable for an additional term.

The commitment includes:

  • Board of Directors meetings every two months, on the second Monday of the month, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., held by videoconference, at least through April 2027;

  • approximately monthly Audit and Finance Committee meetings at the outset, with a first meeting planned for mid-October 2026;

  • reviewing financial documents and occasional discussions with management between meetings;

  • occasional participation in meetings with financial partners, as needed.

Beyond the Board role itself, this involvement offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of a place that currently brings together 70 artist and artisan member-tenants, specialized workshops, creation and residency spaces, as well as training and public programming.

How to Apply

No form or lengthy application process. We invite you to first discover Ateliers Belleville and LAB-545, then send us a few lines about your background, what draws you to the role, and the time you are realistically able to commit.

Please send your application, including your CV, to:
